Boost your orders with Promoted Placement
on January 21, 2025 in Business Tips, Features

Promoted Placement is an advertising feature on Menulog that enhances your restaurant or store’s visibility by positioning it in prominent “Promoted” search spots on the app or website. By selecting specific suburbs for promotion and setting a weekly budget, you can maintain control over your marketing, with charges incurred only when a customer clicks on your menu.

Advantages for you:

  • Increased visibility: Choose the suburbs where you want to promote your business, ensuring it appears prominently when customers search in those areas.
  • Cost-effective advertising: Set a budget with the maximum amount you want to invest; you’ll only be charged when a customer clicks on your menu.
  • Performance Tracking: Manage your Promoted Placement campaigns through the Partner Hub, with transparency over your budget, campaigns, and selected suburbs. You can also opt in to receive monthly emails with your results.

How it works

When you activate a Promoted Placement campaign, your restaurant or store will occupy one of the ‘Promoted’ positions in Menulog searches. Your listing will be showcased to customers most likely to place an order, based on factors such as average order value, past orders, and previous cuisine history. This strategy aims to convert clicks into orders effectively!

To activate Promoted Placement, simply follow these steps:

  • Log in to Partner Hub and select ‘Promoted Placement’ from the menu under ‘Marketing’
  • After choosing the suburbs for advertisement, set a weekly budget to control your spend.
  • Once you’re live, you can track your performance in real-time on Partner Hub, and make any changes as you go.

Frequently Asked Questions

▼ How much does Promoted Placement cost?

You’re in control of the cost – you set a weekly budget that determines your maximum spend. Charges are incurred on a cost-per-click basis, meaning you only pay when a customer clicks on your menu.

▼ What does the recommended budget mean?

All suburbs have different amounts of activity, which means higher or lower click rates occur. If the suburb is showing a high recommended budget, this means that suburb will expect to have more clicks and traffic, than suburbs with lower budgets.

▼ I keep running out of budget, what should I do?

If you run out of budget in certain areas, this means that your business has received a lot of click activity, which is a great thing! If you increase your budget, it simply means that you will continue to receive more clicks which can lead to more orders. If you choose not to, we’ll pause your campaign in that suburb until the end of the week.

▼ How will I be charged?

Charges for your Promoted Placement campaign accrue from the week before and will be deducted on your invoices the following week. There is no commission charge added on top of Promoted Placement charges.

▼ Where can I see my results?

You can track your campaign’s performance in real-time through the Partner Hub and will receive monthly email summaries detailing your progress. Click on the Marketing tab, then Promoted Placement, then Performance tab to track your live results of your campaign.

▼ Can I cancel my Promoted Placement campaign at any time?

The initial campaign period is six weeks. After this period, you can cancel your campaign at any time through the Partner Hub.

▼ Why don’t I always see my restaurant in the top search positions?

Your business may share Promoted positions with others and is displayed to customers most likely to order from you, based on various factors. This approach aims to maximise the conversion of clicks into orders. The algorithm looks at data such as previous order history, average order value, and cuisine match to determine who is most likely to order from your listing.

▼ How many suburbs should I pick?

Depending on how many suburbs your business delivers to, as many as you like! When starting out with Promoted Placement, most partners opt for at least 5 suburbs to determine which suburbs work best for them at the end of their initial campaign.

▼ What suburbs should I pick?

All businesses have different strategies with how they pick where to invest. Factors such as order volume, distance for delivery and favourite cuisine types should be considered when choosing where to promote to. The Promoted Placement team can also guide you in the right direction by calling +61 2 8599 3400.

▼ Can I pick certain days/times to activate Promoted Placement?

All Promoted Placements are active Monday through to Sunday. If your restaurant is busy on weekends, consider this when setting your budgets to last the weekend to maximise your investment during the most profitable periods.
