The Importance of Keeping Your Restaurant Status Updated
on August 16, 2018 in Business Tips

Customer satisfaction when ordering online is driven by a number of factors, including how quick and easy it is to find, select and have their favourite foods delivered! Having a seamless process end to end is one of the biggest contributors to a great customer experience, which will ultimately lead people to come back to your restaurant again and again.

This seamless experience comes from a true partnership between Menulog and all of our valued restaurant partners. Where Menulog provides the technology and support to facilitate online orders and delivery, it is the restaurant’s role to ensure orders are accepted in a timely manner and the food is prepared and sent off in line with the promised delivery time.

It’s vital that restaurant partners keep their restaurant listing up to date, including if there are any periods where a restaurant will not be able to accept orders in a timely manner. There are a number of instances where this could happen so here are a few simple tips to help manage these situations:

Public Holidays

  • Public holidays can be tricky to manage for business owners; weighing up the cost of servicing customers with staffing at what can be an increased rate
  • If you decide to close your restaurant on a public holiday, it’s important to update your opening hours on your Menulog listing to reflect the period your restaurant will be closed
  • You can update your trading hours on Partner Hub by clicking on ‘Your Restaurant’, select ‘Opening hours’, and then adjust your hours as needed.

Closed Periods

  • Hard working restaurant owners need a break too! If you are taking a holiday or a break from your business for a period of time, you can follow the same process for an extended period

Close for the Day

  • The hospitality business can be unpredictable! With so many variables at play when running a restaurant, changes to operations can be unavoidable.
  • If for any reason, you need to close your restaurant for pick-up or delivery orders for the day, you can simply log on to Partner Hub and hit ‘Close for the Day’ on the homepage and your restaurant will automatically appear as closed on Menulog
  • If you would like to reopen, simply log back on and click ‘Undo Close’, or wait until the next day when your restaurant will automatically appear as open again, in line with your set Opening Hours
  • Your restaurant status will be displayed as either ‘Open’ or ‘Closed’ above this button, so you will always know how your restaurant appears for customers

Take Items Offline for the Day

  • It’s not only essential restaurants keep their opening hours and restaurant status updated – it’s also important to ensure that all customer orders can be fulfilled, according to the menu items displayed on the Menulog listing
  • In instances where you might run out of stock or sell out of a dish for the day, restaurant partners can easily take menu items offline by logging onto Partner Hub and visiting the ‘Your Restaurant Tab’
  • By clicking on ‘menu’, restaurants can select any menu item to take offline for that day or alternatively, put items back online if/when menu items are restocked

By making these simple updates, you will ensure that customers are always seeing accurate information about your restaurant and do not place orders when your restaurant is not able to fulfil these. If regular updates are not made, your restaurant will show all previous information provided and may not reflect the current status of your business.

Avoiding any customer disappointment and working to ensure the most efficient ordering and delivery process possible, will result in a great experience for everyone and keep people coming back to your restaurant!
